When is the best time to photograph my baby?

As a newborn photographer, I get a lot of questions from parents about when is the best time to photograph their baby. The truth is – it really depends on what type of photographs you’re after. The age of your baby will really dictate what types of images you are able to achieve during your...

    Scoliosis and Me

I am blessed.  The fact that I have 2 wonderful kids, a wonderful husband, and a job I love is a miracle.  If I had been born at any time in the past other than the 1900s, or if I had been born in a country without access to amazing medical expertise I probably wouldn’t...

      Newborn Photography FAQ

Quite often I get emails from budding newborn photographers wanting to know all about newborn photography for school or TAFE assignments.  I’m always happy to help student photographers just starting out on their photography journey.  Here are some of the most common questions that I’m asked.  If you’re a beginner or student photographer, i hope...

Studio Light vs Natural Light Photography

As most of you know, about 2 years ago I decided to make the switch from natural light to studio light.  There were a few reasons for me making this change….  mainly from my frustrations of working in my studio space that had very inconsistent light.  Some times the light would be good, some days...

          Digital Backgrounds in Photography

In the last year or so, there has been a new trend in newborn and baby photography – using digital backgrounds.  To the non-photographer, basically it is where photographers take a photo – typically an elaborate setup that’s difficult and/or time consuming to do – and sell that image to other photographers who can take...

            Hi Amy
This is really interesting. I’m not a photographer but have been noticing the exact same images coming up on my Facebook timeline from 2 photographers local to me. I couldn’t understand how they could have the same image except for a different baby sitting inside the basket. Thanks for solving this and to be honest I agree with you.

Hi! I'm Amy Tong. I'm a newborn and baby photographer in Sydney, Australia. I'm Mum to 2 little ones, and wife to my best friend of almost 20 years. I've always been creative. A lover of music, art and history. Photography has been an important part of my life since I first picked up a camera as a hobby back in 2008. I knew that I wanted to pursue photography as a career.

I began my career as a professional baby photographer back in 2012 and have had the honour of photographing over 300 babies since then. To me, photography allows us to preserve moments in time for future generations. I can't think of any better job in the world. I'd love to hear from you and help you hold on to these special moments too..

          Amy xx
